under the magnolia tree

I have named my blog “Under the Magnolia Tree” because looking out my kitchen into my back yard, there is this beautiful magnolia tree that almost every spring blooms huge, fragrant flowers.  I often find my eyes resting on the tree as I clean the kitchen and it brings me a sense of calm in the midst of my restlessness.  I looked up the meaning of the magnolia and words like “splendid beauty”, “strength”, and “perseverance” are associated with this flower.  I stand under the tree (while I take Jambo out to do her business) almost every day and look up through the blossoms and I am taken to a place of peace, and I really believe I meet God there if only for a moment during my busy day.  This has become my “quiet time” to which I am loyal, and my inspiration for starting this photo blog.  Trees in general have very sacred significance to me and I am grateful to have found this treasure in my backyard.
